As most of you know, I was born in the Dominican Republic and came to the United States as a toddler with my parents. So the only real exposure to my culture came from traveling every summer for three months at a time to visit family. Those trips became very important to me in understanding my roots…because even though we lived in Washington Heights, which has one of the largest Dominican populations…it wasn't the same. Today, I'm still trying to find a closer relationship with my homeland through conversations with locals, personal experiences, and now sourcing products for the shop. I recently launched a curated collection of Dominican souvenirs that draws on the island's slow culture, rooted in community and heritage. I hope that the stories I share through these souvenirs connect with you and encourage you to explore destinations you travel to in a slow and intentional way.
