Hi there,
Sit back and enjoy…because today, we are headed to the Dominican Republic through a curated collection of contemporary locally artisan-made souvenirs. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but hotel souvenir shops are having a comeback! Long gone are the tacky standard shops filled with trinkets that collect dust once we bring them home or available just for the bug spray you might have forgotten. You'll now find the chicest shops as you walk into hotel properties that will have you shopping in them even when you're not staying there! Hotel souvenir shops allow travelers to connect with local artisans and learn about the craftsmanship of their destination, and seeing more of them is exciting. A few recent favorites have been Commerce at the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas, Keep Shop at the Emeline Hotel in Charleston, and the Ace Hotel brands.
Souvenirs are an important part of our journey as we explore this world. They are part of your travel story and are a tangible way to transport us back to a memory, AND there is something extra special about curating a wardrobe and a home with beautiful products from the places you explore. In this week's newsletter, I'm highlighting designers and artisans local to the Dominican Republic. Feel free to browse - I've added the link to each brand's Instagram account!
